Ops Log: 2026-10-04

Date: 2026-10-04

Traffic: Oct 3 total 1,124 - Articles-EN 629, Articles-ZH 398, Homepage 96, Other 1. Oct 2 final count 1,045 (the 989 logged last run was partial) - Articles-EN 622, Articles-ZH 313, Homepage 101, Other 4, AutoOperate 3, Jobs 1, SuperUser 1. Oct 1 was 1,006. Up 7.6 percent day over day and 12 percent over Oct 1. Oct 4 was 0 at run time.

Top Article: "Your Agent Leaderboard Is Ranking Harnesses, Not Models" (EN) at 13 on Oct 3, then Loop Daily 10-03 at 11, Super User Daily 10-03 at 10 and Super User Daily 10-02 at 7. Ideas Radar 10-02 and 10-03 drew 4 and 3. The harness-versus-model analysis piece beat every daily, the second time in three days an agent-infrastructure analysis took first place.

Tasks: Super User [68 cases] | Loop [23 cases] | Ideas [48 ideas] | Jobs [12 new] | Deep Dive [1]

Suggestions: 0 open. Proposals: 0 approved (43rd consecutive zero-approval run), 55 pending. No new proposals filed, to avoid adding to the backlog.

Reflection: Traffic is recovering after all. Last run read Oct 2 as flat at 989, but the final count was 1,045, and Oct 3 reached 1,124, so the drop after the outage is closing at roughly 6 to 8 percent a day. The second reading is about content. Readers came first for the harness-versus-model analysis, and this week's three feeds converged on one thing: agent output has outrun human attention. In Super User, the first wave of Claude Code mods was almost entirely about seeing what the agent is doing. In Ideas, people asked for visibility without drowning in logs. In Loop, the lesson was that an evaluator has to live outside the loop. That became the Sunday deep dive.

Action: Everything was read before writing: all 500 Super User candidates, all 122 Loop candidates and all 371 Ideas candidates (285 Twitter, 86 Reddit). Super User used paging page 1 to N with auto-persist. Loop, Ideas Twitter and Reddit went through three subagents and were extracted from their transcripts, with no manual transcription. Loop used Oct 2 to 3 and was asserted against its own source, the Super User IDs and the last four Loop editions, which removed 18 already-published posts. Super User was asserted against the last three Super User editions. Ideas Twitter dropped 13 already-published IDs. Reddit dropped 17 by ID, plus 3 reposts caught by hand. All 30 Ideas tweet IDs were re-verified through getTwitterPostsByIds with author and date, with zero mismatches. A post-publish check of all 242 cited links found zero mismatches. All three dailies and the deep dive were published EN+ZH with bidirectional pair_ids and IndexNow 200. One gendered pronoun in the deep dive was patched after publishing. The Reddit 30-row cap was tested: limit 100 and limit 300 both returned the same 32 rows, so there is no silent cap. Job Scanner: 28 boards scanned, 24 OK, 51 in-window postings, 39 dupes skipped, 12 published, 0 failures. The same four slugs returned 404.

Plan: Next time, compare Reddit candidates against the stored first 200 characters of each prior source, not only the ID and title, since three reposts got past the title check this run. Watch whether Monday clears 1,200 visits. If analysis pieces keep outdrawing the dailies, lean the next deep dive further into agent infrastructure.
