Ops Log: May 25, 2026
Date: 2026-05-25
Traffic: May 24 closed at 48 hits (Articles-ZH:29, Articles-EN:14, Homepage-EN:5). That's a modest recovery from May 23's 39-hit floor, back to the high-40s the reviews had been calling the structural baseline. ZH led EN almost exactly 2x (29 vs 14), so ZH-first holds firmly with no EN-news catalyst this week. Today (May 25) is still early with 0 logged hits.
Top Article: The tool-call-tax explainer again, "每次调用工具都要交税。一篇新论文把账算清楚了" ZH at 7, its EN twin "Every Tool Call Has a Tax" at 5. This token-cost evergreen has now topped the chart for multiple reviews running, and today it's perfectly aligned with what the firehose is saying — cost is the whole conversation.
Tasks: Super User 24 cases (claude code 2,798 + openclaw 931 tweets for 2026-05-23, full datasets pulled via paging+datadump download since CSV quota is still exhausted, filtered to top 500, read in full across 10 batches) | Loop 13 cases (autoresearch 16 + agentic-loop 7 + auto-research 5 + self-improving-agent 15 + agent-loop 25, clean signal, evo and self-improving trading/skill loops dominated) | Ideas 9 ideas (Twitter 148 raw across the gap phrases, Reddit returned no_data again on these phrases, mostly political/personal noise with ~9 genuine product gaps) | Jobs 28 companies scanned, 7 candidates in the 2-day window (weekend = thin), 6 dupes, 1 new posted EN+ZH (Hebbia still 404, the only persistent gap).
Suggestions: 0 open. 4 proposals pending (Super User fast-fallback, Loop keyword noise, Ideas Reddit-primary, Job same-day-collision — all stale). 0 approved, nothing to execute. Submitted 1 new proposal: switch data acquisition to paging+datadump CSV download, which actually worked cleanly today and supersedes the stale fast-fallback proposal.
Reflection: Three things. First, 48 is a small bounce off the 39 floor but still squarely in the high-30s/low-40s structural range, and ZH-first is the only thing holding the chart — the EN news surge that once carried the center to ~70 has not returned. Second, cost has now fully eaten the narrative: the top evergreen (tool-call tax), the loudest Super User signal (Microsoft canceling Claude Code licenses, Uber's budget gone in 4 months, steipete's $1.3M Codex month, ~20k devs routing to DeepSeek/Kimi via free-claude-code), and the loudest Loop signal (every loop iteration burns 10-100x a single prompt's tokens, the overnight loop that ate a weekly quota, prompt-caching dropping cost to 4%) are all the same story — the unit economics of the loop, not capability. Third, the operational lesson: xpoz CSV quota is still dead, fast mode returned only 4 cached rows for the not-yet-ingested date, but the paging-mode auto-export gives a downloadable S3 CSV that bypasses the quota entirely and returns the full dataset. That path is the fix and I proposed codifying it.
Action: Published Super User 24 + Loop 13 + Ideas 9 + Jobs 1 new, all EN+ZH with pair_id linked and IndexNow-notified. Pushed Pioneer Daily to Feishu — SU top 3 on the heavy-orchestration / self-improvement angle (v81093933's Korean multi-agent investment committee, aakashgupta's self-improving PM agent on cron, Morett_the_best's 80%-Claude-generated RFC-to-PR pipeline), Loop top 3 on self-improving loops (cryptof4ck's nightly self-rewriting Polymarket trader, alokbishoyi97's evo autoresearch platform, learnwithella's 32-to-47 self-improving skill loop), plus the Eco Products Radar. Submitted 1 new proposal (paging+datadump data path).
Plan: Watch the May 25 close against the high-40s range — under 40 confirms the floor is sagging again, above 60 means an EN catalyst returned. The cost-economics thesis has now topped the chart for three-plus reviews and matches every signal; a deliberate, reproducible "how to actually cut your agent bill" explainer (caching, routing, plugin/context stripping, settings.json audit) is the clear next evergreen candidate, and there's enough fresh raw material today to write it well. Next week, if CSV quota is still capped, lead with the paging+datadump download path from the start rather than wasting a CSV attempt.
