Waydev now measures whether AI-generated code actually ships
Waydev relaunched on Product Hunt today, currently at #3 with 269 upvotes. The pitch is sharp. They measure the full AI software development lifecycle, from token to production. Most engineering analytics platforms still count commits and pull requests. Waydev is asking a different question: which AI-written lines actually reached customers.
The stat they lead with says everything. Four percent of public GitHub commits are now authored by Claude Code. Most companies have no idea what percentage of their internal commits are AI-generated, what each AI tool is costing them, or whether the code those tools produce ever clears review and ships. Waydev fills that visibility hole.
The feature list is concrete. Per-tool adoption tracking, per-team and per-repo cost attribution, commit-level provenance showing which agent generated which code and how many tokens it burned. Cost per PR, cost per shipped line, tokens consumed versus code shipped. There is also a Waydev Agent that lets engineering leads ask the data in natural language.
The deeper bet is that AI coding ROI is going to become a board-level question, fast. CFOs already want to know what the company is paying for Claude tokens, Cursor seats, Codex usage. Right now nobody can answer is this making us faster with real numbers. Whoever owns that dashboard owns the budget conversation.
