Datadog MCP Server: Real-Time Observability Data Now Available to AI Agents

Datadog announced the general availability of its MCP Server on March 9, 2026, giving AI agents and coding tools direct access to live observability data.

The MCP Server enables engineering teams to feed live logs, metrics, and traces directly into AI coding agents like Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot, and Visual Studio Code when investigating production issues. This eliminates context switching — developers can debug with real-time telemetry without leaving their AI-powered workflow.

Beyond developer tooling, the MCP Server also empowers custom AI agents to leverage Datadog's proactive detection and remediation signals. Agents can investigate and respond to issues automatically, using real-time observability intelligence within established security and governance controls.

The launch represents a significant milestone in enterprise MCP adoption, as one of the largest observability platforms now speaks the Model Context Protocol natively.
