Anthropic Eyes $50B Round at $900B Valuation

The leak everyone was waiting for landed on April 29. Anthropic has received preemptive offers to raise around $50 billion at a valuation between $850B and $900B. If they take it, the company more than doubles from its February $380B mark and clears OpenAI's $852B post in the same stroke.

The ARR math actually backs the price. Anthropic's annualized revenue just crossed $30 billion, up from $9 billion at the end of 2025. That's not the usual frontier-model story where loss-leading hopes meet capex panic. It's roughly 30x growth in 18 months, with Claude Code, Cowork, and the API all pulling. The OpenClaw fee crackdown and the Project Glasswing cyber play look in retrospect like exactly what you do when you have pricing power and want to monetize it.

The board is supposed to make a final call on round and valuation in May. Multiple firms are bidding so this won't be a quiet inside round β€” sovereigns, Tiger-style growth shops, the usual suspects from the OpenAI cap table all want a number on the wire. Sand Hill is openly asking whether $900B for the second-place lab is the new floor for AI labs broadly, or whether this is the moment the curve breaks.

The interesting question isn't whether Anthropic clears $900B. It's what happens to everyone training a frontier model who isn't Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or xAI. If the secondary market puts Anthropic at trillion-dollar adjacency, the second-tier labs need to either pick a vertical or get acquired. The funding round is also the round.
