Voygr (YC W26) — Maps API Built for AI Agents

Voygr, a Y Combinator W26 startup, launched today on Hacker News as a maps and place data API designed specifically for AI agents and apps. Founded by ex-Google Maps product lead Vlad and ex-Apple/Google/Meta ML engineer Yarik, Voygr solves a fundamental gap: current maps APIs give agents a static snapshot ("4.2 stars, open till 10"), but can't tell them the chef left, wait times doubled, or that locals moved on.

Voygr builds infinite, queryable place profiles that combine structured place data with fresh web context — news, articles, events, and real-time signals. This lets agents reason about and act in the physical world with context that goes far beyond the 10-15 attributes traditional map APIs provide.

The market need is clear: over 20M apps/websites, up to 40% of search queries, and 20% of LLM prompts need local context. As AI agents increasingly handle real-world tasks (booking restaurants, planning trips, local commerce), they need place intelligence that's both accurate and current.
