Google Just Dropped $750M on Consultants to Sell Agents for Them

One day after unveiling the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Google Cloud walked onto the Cloud Next 2026 stage and committed $750 million to its 120,000-member partner ecosystem. The money goes to consulting and systems integration firms — Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, HCLTech, PwC, TCS — to staff up agent practices, deploy forward-engineers from Google, and subsidize enterprise pilots. Specialized AI shops Altimetrik, Artefact, and Tribe.ai get dedicated Gemini Enterprise practices. McKinsey and BCG get early model access.

This is distribution, not tooling. Google saw what OpenAI, Anthropic, and AWS figured out ahead of them — enterprises don't buy agent platforms, they buy pilots from the Big Four, and whoever wins the consulting channel wins the Fortune 500. Three quarters of a billion dollars is Google's answer to the question of why Azure got Microsoft Foundry through the door at every bank in America first.

The mechanics are straightforward. Partners receive co-funded discovery workshops, prototyping credits, security evaluations, and agent deployment incentives. Google embeds its own engineers at the top partners so projects ship and reference customers materialize. The unsaid part is that every one of those deployments is also a Vertex AI lock-in and a Gemini model consumption contract. The $750M doesn't come back directly, but it comes back 5-10x in multi-year seat and inference revenue.

If you're selling competing agent infrastructure, this is the part that should worry you. A Capgemini partner who was going to try OpenAI or Anthropic on the next deal now has an embedded Google engineer, a co-funded assessment, and a Gemini Enterprise marketplace path to publishing. Partner capacity is the bottleneck in enterprise agent rollouts for the next 18 months, and Google just bought a decisive chunk of it.
