Today's demand signals cluster around the unglamorous plumbing that gets skipped when everyone races to build the happy path. Three separate gaps describe the same shape: an intelligence layer that decides what should happen, and nothing underneath it that actually executes against systems without clean APIs. The rest of the day splits between agent-economy infrastructure β routing across local and cloud compute, permission boundaries at the tool-call level, cache-aware cost accounting β and a couple of stubbornly human needs that nobody has bothered to serve.

There is no clean way to run a hybrid AI architecture that mixes local and cloud inference. Someone describing their current setup says they have to fork OpenRouter and hack it to route local models alongside larger cloud models, with the routing decision falling back to cloud when local compute runs low. This is a router-shaped hole: the same unified endpoint abstraction that exists for cloud providers, but with local hardware as a first-class provider and a capacity-aware policy layer on top. As on-device models get genuinely usable, every privacy-conscious or cost-conscious team hits this exact wall, and today the answer is a private fork.

Healthcare automation has an execution gap rather than an intelligence gap. Prior authorization, revenue cycle management and utilization management platforms are perfectly capable of deciding what should happen β and then hand the non-API last mile back to humans or brittle RPA scripts. That last mile is payer portals, paper charts, appeals and enrollment: high-volume, high-friction work that no vendor's API touches. The product shape is an independent execution runtime that any intelligence platform can sit on top of, and the buying question becomes "who actually handles the non-API execution." The same pattern almost certainly repeats in insurance, logistics and government services.

Small manufacturers are still running production on spreadsheets and whiteboards because enterprise MES systems cost around $200,000 to implement and need dedicated IT staff to maintain. The concrete pain: shop owners routinely discover a job was unprofitable only after it ships. Nobody is building AI tooling for traditional small businesses at local resolution. The observation is that the bakery in Madrid and the taqueria in Mexico City have genuinely different needs, and generic horizontal AI products serve neither. The opportunity is automation scoped by sector and by local regulatory reality β meaning the compliance rules, invoicing formats, tax treatment and labor practices are baked in rather than configured. This is the least glamorous and most defensible category in the space, because the moat is regulatory and linguistic specificity, which foundation model progress does not erode.

Multi-agent tools have converged on channels and shared workspaces, but the ones that exist are either rough to operate or lock you into a vendor's models. Someone building for themselves describes the gap precisely: he wants a Slack-style team and workspace layer β channels, agent teammates, remote agents, shared projects, multiple models and skills β on top of an agent runtime he controls, without giving up ownership of his models, tools and infrastructure. The polished hosted option comes with pricing and lock-in he does not want long term; the open option is heavier to set up than expected and small issues keep breaking the flow. Every tool call an agent makes is an enforcement point, and there is no consistent boundary layer that treats it that way. GitHub, cloud infrastructure, databases, Slack, payments, production systems β each of these gets accessed by agents through credentials scoped for humans doing occasional work, not for autonomous processes acting hundreds of times an hour. The gap is a policy layer that sits between the agent and every tool, scoped per capability rather than per credential. This week's agent that discovered an unauthenticated cancellation endpoint and used it is the argument for why this cannot stay a configuration detail.

Agent cost dashboards need cache-aware token accounting and current models cannot supply it reliably. Someone running a private held-out evaluation found a frontier model treating a one-million-token input as fully uncached when 200,000 of it was actually a cache read. Coding benchmarks will never surface this class of error, but it silently corrupts any spend dashboard built on top of self-reported accounting. The product implication is that billing observability has to be measured independently at the gateway rather than trusted from the model layer β which is a real business given how much of agent spend is now cache-hit-dependent.

There is no realtime price tracker for popular computer hardware with historical increase and decrease tracking. The request is simple and the timing is specific: memory and GPU pricing is moving fast enough that buyers want a live view plus a trend line, and the person asking does not expect decreases for the next two to four years. Existing options are either retailer-specific, region-locked or stale. A cross-retailer tracker with alerting on component-level price movement is a straightforward build with an obvious audience of builders, gamers and small hardware buyers.

AI-driven VR mods have no distribution or funding layer. The suggestion is a platform where the community can raise funds and create bounties for the mods they want built, rather than waiting for whoever happens to be interested. Bounty-plus-distribution is a proven pattern in adjacent modding communities, and AI-assisted mod creation lowers the build cost enough that the bottleneck genuinely shifts from capability to coordination and funding. A niche with an unusually motivated and already-paying audience.

Adults relearning mathematics from the ground up have instruction but no practice. Someone rebuilding from roughly a grade-five level describes following a free video series and then flying blind, because the lectures cover the teaching but not the problem sets. The specific ask is a free website with a large bank of practice problems organized by grade level. Textbooks are out of reach financially, and the dominant free platform is explicitly not working for them. The gap is not content generation β it is graded, sequenced, level-tagged practice with enough volume to build fluency, aimed at adult learners rather than schoolchildren.

Claude's subscription ladder stops well below where its heaviest users need it. A subscriber on the top Max 20x tier reports hitting weekly limits after four or five days and running into five-hour windows while multitasking, then losing focus during the wait. The explicit request is a $500 per month Max 50x tier. The interesting part is the preference underneath it: this user would rather consolidate everything on one platform than assemble coverage from multiple subscriptions, and is currently being pushed toward the API by the absence of a higher tier. There is a whole category of prosumer here that the pricing page does not acknowledge.
