Today's demand skews toward plumbing and away from apps. The strongest asks are all for a missing layer under something that already works: an AI-native CMS under the marketing site, a provenance and revocation layer under agent plugins, durable meaning-indexed storage under continual learning. The consumer side is quieter and more specific, dominated by comparison problems nobody has bothered to solve because each one is individually boring and collectively enormous, plus two independent people on the same day asking for the same thing: a place to publicly review how a company treated them during an interview, without that company getting to approve the post.

A marketer should be able to prompt "add a customer stories section with individual CMS pages" and have agents build the whole thing, then edit every output from a prompt window. What exists today splits the difference badly: one family of tools starts from a UI and CMS abstraction and bolts AI on, another starts from AI prompting and hands you code and hosting but no structured content model. The gap is a CMS that is AI-native at its core while keeping a visual editing layer, fully portable code and data, git version control, self-hosting and export, real production deployment, and multiplayer editing. This is the highest-value ask in today's set because it targets an entrenched, well-monetized category where the incumbent's abstraction is the thing blocking the obvious product.

Calorie-tracking apps that work by photographing your food went viral, but the app itself is the friction: a download, an account, an icon you stop opening after two weeks. The proposal is to strip all of it and make the whole product an iMessage agent. You text a photo of your lunch, it texts back the macros. No install, no signup, and the phone's default messaging surface becomes the interface. The broader observation is the reusable part: messaging agents are currently the most underrated distribution channel in consumer software, the platform door is already open, and almost nobody is building consumer products that live entirely inside a thread.

Two people on the same day, in two different subreddits, asked for the same missing product: somewhere to publicly write about a company that treated them badly during an interview. The specific complaint names why the existing option fails, which is that reviews on the incumbent site require approval from the company's own admin team, so the rudest interviewers are exactly the ones who never get reviewed. The demand is for interviewer-behavior reviews specifically rather than general employer reviews, tied to a process rather than a job, published without the subject holding a veto. Duplicate independent demand on the same day is the strongest signal in this section, and the moderation and defamation design is the whole difficulty.

Couch-to-5K plans and voice-coached running apps exist separately and nobody has combined them. The ask is precise: the in-ear motivational coaching of a mainstream running app, someone actually talking you through it, but structured around a beginner interval plan for people who cannot yet run twenty minutes straight. Existing beginner apps deliver the intervals as a silent timer, and existing coached runs assume you can already run continuously. The market is everyone in their first eight weeks, which is the largest and highest-churn segment in running, and the thing that keeps them going is a voice rather than a chart.

Nobody is loyal to a ride-hailing brand, and everybody checks two or three apps before booking because prices swing by large margins for the same trip. The ask is a meta-layer that queries every ride-hailing service and returns the best rate at the moment of booking. The frustration is stated flatly, that doing this manually before every journey is a tax the user pays daily. The obvious obstacle is that the platforms have no incentive to expose pricing, which is exactly why the category stays empty despite universal demand, and why whoever solves the access problem inherits the whole comparison layer.

Rail fares vary enormously by origin station, so the cheapest way to reach a destination often means starting from a station you did not think of. Every existing booking site makes you pick one origin, search, go back, change it, and search again, twenty times. The ask is a site that takes a destination and a set of candidate departure stations and compares prices across all of them in one view. This is a pure interface problem sitting on top of data that is already available, in a market where the savings are large enough that people already do the work by hand.

The under-discussed constraint on continual learning is storage, not training. A model that keeps learning needs somewhere durable to put what it learned, retrievable by meaning rather than by key, with a record of what it knew at the moment it acted. That last requirement is the interesting one and the reason a vector database does not qualify: point-in-time provenance turns memory from a lookup into an audit trail, which is what you need when an agent's decision has to be explained months later. The claim is that this is an infrastructure problem and almost nobody is building for it, which matches the parallel complaints elsewhere today about vector stores functioning as transcript graveyards.

Agent plugins are quietly becoming a software supply chain. A single plugin can bring skills, MCP servers, hooks and executable behavior into an agent, and portability has now solved distribution, which means the dangerous part arrived first. What is missing is everything the older package ecosystems learned the hard way: provenance, permissions, signing, isolation and revocation. The urgency is not theoretical, since this same week saw a worm distributing payloads through poisoned agent settings files in cloned repositories. The product here is the agent-plugin equivalent of a signed registry with a kill switch, and it needs to exist before the first ecosystem-wide incident rather than after.

There is a real gap between what founders need and what the market offers for creator and campaign management. Large agencies are too corporate, too expensive, and do not actually understand content; founders have no time to deal with creators directly; traditional marketing leadership has no operating experience in the content economy. The people who genuinely know this work are individual operators who have personally done large numbers on social, and they are not packaged into a service anyone can buy. The opportunity is a productized creator-campaign management layer built by operators, which is currently a personal-brand business waiting to become a company.

Individual AI filmmakers have a distribution problem, not a production problem, and the constraints are documented platform by platform: one short-video platform will not push monetized film over a minute, another restricts anything over three minutes to existing followers only, a third gives a post roughly twenty-four hours of life and throttles video for smaller accounts, and the one platform that works properly requires clearing a monetization threshold first. So the work gets made and then dies in the wrong container. The opening is a distribution and monetization home built for short-to-medium AI film, which is a fast-growing format currently squeezed into feeds designed for something else.

Perpetuals trading has deep liquidity and no social layer. The ask is explicit: take the social infrastructure and mobile experience that already works for spot and copy-trading products and build the equivalent for perps, letting people trade whichever venue they prefer underneath. Social features drive both discovery and retention in retail trading, and the fact that the most active retail derivatives market runs on bare terminals with no shared feed is a structural gap rather than a preference.

People now maintain distinct personas across ChatGPT, Claude and Grok, and each one holds a different slice of who they are. The suggestion is an app that combines personas across those services and uses the merged profile for matching. Set aside the dating framing and the underlying primitive is the interesting part: a portable cross-provider persona a user owns and can point at any service. Every chat assistant currently builds a rich private model of its user and none of them let the user take it anywhere.

A small, specific, widely felt omission: there is no way to extract a video frame as a photo in the iOS Photos app. Everyone who has tried to pull one clean still out of a clip has ended up screenshotting a paused video and accepting the loss in quality and the UI overlay. The workarounds are third-party apps that want a subscription for a one-tap operation. Small utilities like this are unglamorous, but the addressable audience is everyone who has ever shot video on a phone, and the current default is a worse image than the device already has stored.

Hobbyist collectors of regional licence plate spottings have a cataloguing app and a separate camera roll, and no way to unify them. The specific ask is an app that works like the existing spotting tool but also accepts uploads of the collector's own photographs so the record and the evidence live together. This is a tiny niche and it is worth reading as an instance of a pattern: hobby cataloguing apps consistently model the checklist and refuse to host the user's own media, which means every serious collector maintains two systems and eventually threatens to build the third.

Prebuilt gaming PC listings start at a price point far above what a large part of the market can pay, with even the cheapest builds sitting well above a thousand dollars, while people are demonstrably gaming happily on hardware several generations old. The ask is honest builds in the two-to-six-hundred-dollar band, assembled and sold openly rather than treated as embarrassing. The market has optimized entirely for the most expensive hardware because that is where the margin and the review coverage are, which leaves the entry tier to used listings and luck.

Coding agents each read their own configuration file, and the industry is now several conventions deep with no agreement. The specific point made is that a cross-agent instruction standard cannot work as an external project bolted on afterwards; it has to be built in, and the flagship harness authors need to converge on one format soon. The product opportunity is smaller than the standards problem but real: the tooling that keeps one source of truth in sync across every agent's expected file, which is the thing every multi-agent team is currently solving with copy-paste.

A short but pointed question in a sales thread: is there a tool that surfaces any of the buying signals people talk about. The gap is that signal-based selling is discussed constantly as a methodology while the actual detection layer, the thing that watches for the triggers and tells you when they fire, is either locked inside expensive enterprise suites or does not exist at the price point independent sellers can reach. An affordable signal detector aimed at solo sellers and small teams is a well-defined product hiding under a very crowded category.

There is unmet demand for a life-simulation game in the mould of the genre leader, and the ask comes with an explicit exclusion: not the one with generative AI in it. The signal worth reading is that the exclusion was volunteered rather than asked for. A meaningful slice of the audience for a genre now treats AI generation as a negative product attribute, and a competitor whose pitch is handcrafted systems and deterministic simulation has a positioning nobody currently occupies.

Film-tracking services keep expanding what counts as a film, and users want the ability to exclude categories from their own searches: concert films, tributes, shorts, and increasingly TV. The ask is not to remove them from the platform but to filter them out of personal search and keep the statistics separate. It is a settings-level feature request rather than a startup, but it points at the same structural friction as the plate-spotting ask above: catalogue products keep broadening their definition of the thing being catalogued, and the users doing the most careful record-keeping are the ones it hurts.

No product crossed three independent mentions in today's idea set, which is itself the finding: unlike the Super User and Loop sections, the demand posts collected here almost never name an existing tool, because the whole premise of each one is that the tool they want does not exist. The named products that did appear were incumbents being described as inadequate rather than adopted: Webflow, WordPress and Lovable as the three points the AI-native CMS request triangulates between; Glassdoor as the review site whose company-approval step is the reason two people asked for a replacement on the same day; and Nike Run Club as the coaching experience the couch-to-5K request wants unbundled from its assumed fitness level.
