Herdr Goes Multi-Machine: Your Agent Fleet Outgrew Your Laptop
Herdr - the agent-fleet TUI with 700k+ downloads, about 1,000 plugins and 36.5k GitHub stars - shipped multi-machine support this week under the title "Connecting the Machines." One client now manages agents across your laptop, a VPS and the Mac mini in the closet; the laptop becomes a thin control surface for a fleet that lives wherever compute is cheapest.
The timing says this is a category, not a feature. The same 24 hours: Switch took Product Hunt's #1 with 411 votes for piping any agent into Slack, Teams and Discord, and YC now has at least two companies - Agent FM and Linzumi - selling "one group chat to steer your coding agents." Three independent teams, same bet: the scarce resource isn't the agent, it's the human's attention across many agents, and whoever owns that control surface owns the workflow.
Worth naming what's being rebuilt here: this is ops tooling - fleet dashboards, session routing, remote attach - reinvented for processes that talk back. The terminal was the interface to one machine; the group chat is becoming the interface to many workers. That inversion is bigger than any single launch on today's board.
