Lucid Process Agent: Enterprise MCP Server Gets an AI Collaborator for Work Planning
Lucid Software launched Process Agent on March 26, a new AI capability that transforms how teams create complex workflows and documentation. Unlike typical AI assistants that follow instructions, Process Agent acts as a proactive collaborator β initiating chat-based discovery, asking clarifying questions about scope, risk analysis, and approval handoffs before generating any diagrams.
Alongside Process Agent, Lucid significantly expanded its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, originally launched in November 2025. The MCP server now supports diagram creation directly within LLMs: describe a workflow and Lucid generates a fully editable diagram instantly. A ChatGPT Apps SDK is coming soon, and an Edit Document API launching in April will let agents describe changes to documents with Lucid AI executing the edits automatically.
The MCP server connects to all major clients including ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor. This means coding agents and AI assistants can now search, fetch, summarize, and create Lucid diagrams without leaving their workflow.
As Jamie Lyon, Lucid's Chief Product & Strategy Officer, noted: "Teams lack a shared place to align and act because information is scattered across systems of record." Process Agent addresses this by ensuring documentation reflects true business logic and meets compliance standards before a single diagram is made. This represents a shift from AI-as-generator to AI-as-discovery-partner in enterprise collaboration.
