Reflection Books $1B of Nebius Compute Through 2029
Nebius is selling more than a billion dollars of computing power to Reflection, running through 2029, on Nvidia GB300s. Bloomberg broke it on July 14 and Nebius stock popped 3 percent.
Reflection is the outfit two ex-DeepMind researchers started to build open-weight frontier models as an American alternative to what OpenAI and Anthropic keep behind an API. This is not even their first lock-in. In June they signed with SpaceX for capacity, a deal reported at roughly 150 million dollars a month through 2029. Add it up and a company barely two years old has committed to compute contracts that dwarf most of the funding rounds in this entire industry.
Look at who else Nebius is signing. A 2 billion dollar investment from Nvidia. A five-year Meta infrastructure deal worth up to 27 billion. A Microsoft deal up to 19.4 billion. And now Reflection. The neocloud layer is quietly becoming the chokepoint everyone has to squeeze through, and the genuinely new thing here is that an open-model startup is now buying at the same table as Meta.
There is a lesson in this for anybody building on agents. Capacity for 2027 and 2028 is being allocated right now, in contracts, by companies willing to commit for four years. The constraint on open frontier models was never really money or talent β plenty of both around. It is whether you got in line early enough for the chips. Reflection did.
