Ideas Radar: 2026-05-01
Today the unmet-needs signal sharpens around three patterns: vertical AI infrastructure (DeFi backtesting, brand ad libraries, verbatim RAG), agent-coordination plumbing (cross-harness SDKs, Codex remote control, agent-discoverable AGENTS.md registries), and the 'nobody is building governance at the speed of context' wave. Most ideas this week are not new product wishes β they're missing primitives in stacks that already work. The interesting ones reveal where the agentic web has structural gaps that one weekend can't close.
#1
DeFi protocol backtesting as a service. The author wanted to test 'if a trader takes a trade at time t+2, can I simulate it using data from time t' against Phoenix orderbooks. He's about to build it solo with Claude. The product opportunity: every new DeFi protocol needs backtesting infrastructure on day one, but every team rebuilds it from scratch. A multi-protocol backtest harness with on-chain replay would compress the dev cycle for the whole DeFi market-making vertical.

#2
Marketplace for defunct startup names and abandoned waitlists. There's real intent buried in those domain registrations β someone built enough to register, then walked away. A platform that surfaces these names with their original positioning + waitlist data + traffic history could help second-time founders skip the cold start. Defunct waitlists are also a sales lead list nobody is touching.

#3
Verbatim RAG, not paraphrasing RAG. The author built a local agentic RAG over 9k pages of Claude+Gemini deep research output with a verbatim verifier as a hard gate β the retriever literally cannot hallucinate quotes. Every commercial RAG (NotebookLM, Perplexity, every LangChain tutorial) defaults to paraphrase. The opportunity is 'licensed memory as a service' for legal, journalism, compliance, and any domain where misquoting = liability. The product gap is huge and the moat is a verifier, not a model.

#4
Geo-targeted AI citation optimization. As Perplexity, ChatGPT and Claude become the new search layer, brands need to rank in AI answers β and the answer set varies by location, language, and freshness. Nobody is building geo-aware AI citation tooling fast enough. Citation freshness vs ranking drift across Perplexity vs ChatGPT vs Claude is a quantifiable problem nobody is measuring at scale yet. SEO-for-LLMs is the obvious next category, and the geo dimension is the missing piece.

#5
Brand ad library scraper that extracts video scripts. The user wants to walk through a brand's Meta ad library and pull transcribed scripts from every video ad. Combine TikTok / Meta / YouTube ad libraries + Whisper transcription + script clustering and you have a creative-strategy tool that reverse-engineers any competitor's ad playbook. Marketing teams pay $500-2000/mo for swipe-file tools today; this would be the AI-native version with an order-of-magnitude more depth.

#6
Cross-agent SDK that sits on top of every coding agent without sub lock-in. The author points out a Cursor product is essentially this but tied to Cursor's $20+ subscription. The real gap is a vendor-neutral SDK letting one app drive Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Opencode interchangeably β no lock-in, BYOK. Aiden Bai's spawn-agent (today's Super User Daily) is the early form. The platform play is the harness coordinator nobody owns yet.

/remote-control for Codex. Anthropic just shipped Claude Code mobile push notifications via /remote-control, letting you pair a terminal session to your phone. OpenAI's Codex has no equivalent. A third-party bridge β Telegram bot or push-via-webhook β that wraps Codex sessions in the same UX would close the gap immediately and is a one-weekend project. Whoever ships first becomes the de facto remote-control layer for OpenAI's harness.

AI tab completion for neovim that knows when to step out. Existing Copilot-in-neovim flows interrupt flow constantly. The user wants something that 'just gets out of the way when writing code and keeps me in flow' β autocomplete that triggers only when the dev pauses, never during typing. Sounds small but the cursor-attention-management problem is the only thing keeping power users on JetBrains/VSCode. A neovim plugin that nails the silence-vs-suggest tradeoff captures the entire vim-first dev market.

#9
Mid-tier image editor for Linux: between Kolourpaint (too basic) and GIMP (too heavy). Author wants a paint.net equivalent for Linux. The 20-year gap in this exact spot is real β every Linux user knows it. AI angle: a modern editor with native AI infill, background removal, and one-shot edits via diffusion would leapfrog the entire 'photoshop or nothing' positioning. Niche but devoted user base, and the hardware diffusion + browser-native rendering wave makes the timing finally right.

#10
AGENTS.md / llms.txt at the domain level, not just per company. The author argues most businesses have zero machine-readable documentation β no AGENTS.md, no llms.txt, no structured API docs an agent can consume. The opportunity isn't another file format, it's the registry/aggregator that surfaces these per-domain skill files so any agent can discover them like sitemap.xml. Whoever builds the 'sitemap.xml for agents' becomes a pinned dependency for every future agentic browsing/shopping/booking workflow.

#11
AI governance tooling that runs at the speed of AI deployment. The author observes 'nobody is building governance at the speed they're building context'. As AI moves from chat windows into terminals, Slack, codebases, knowledge bases, accountability diffuses across every harness layer. The product is real-time runtime audit β what tool calls fired, what data crossed which boundary, who approved or didn't, exportable as evidence for regulators. Compliance teams will pay enterprise-tier prices for this, and the regulatory wave is still 12 months out β exactly the right entry window.
