claude-hud: Real-Time Monitoring Plugin for Claude Code Sessions

claude-hud is trending on GitHub today with over 450 new stars. This open-source Claude Code plugin displays a persistent heads-up display showing context window usage, active tools, running agents, and todo progress — all rendered directly in the terminal.

The plugin uses Claude Code's native statusline API, updating every 300ms without requiring a separate window or tmux. A visual progress bar changes from green to yellow to red as context fills up. It also tracks rate limit consumption for Pro/Max/Team subscribers and displays git branch information.

Created by developer Jarrod Watts, the project has grown to over 5,000 stars since its January 2026 launch. It works with Node.js 18+ or Bun, and installs via Claude Code's marketplace with no restart needed. An enhanced community fork adds color themes and detailed usage limit countdowns.
