Monid 2.0 Wants to Be the OpenRouter for Tools

Monid 2.0 launched on Product Hunt yesterday at #2 with 446 upvotes. The pitch in one line: OpenRouter, but for agent tools instead of for models. 200+ tools behind one MCP integration, pay-per-call billing from a wallet your agent controls, no subscription. TikTok scrapers, LinkedIn data, Reddit, Instagram, Amazon catalog, search APIs, blockchain monitors, lead-gen services. Agents discover, compare, and pick.

The architecture is clean. MCP server on one side, agent on the other. Agent reads what tools exist, picks one, fires a call, the wallet pays per use. User can set budget caps. It is the same shape as inference routing, applied one layer up. If your agent loop spends 60 cents per task on tools and 8 cents on inference, the routing layer that picks tools is more valuable than the one that picks models.

This is the second product in 30 days that has positioned itself as 'OpenRouter for X' in the agent stack. The pattern is clear: every commodity input to an agent loop will get a routing layer. Tools, models, browsers, sandboxes, voices. Whoever runs the marketplace collects the spread. Whoever runs the marketplace also sees the actual workload mix every agent in production is running, which is a category-defining data position.
