Blue Voice Raises $6M Seed to Be Harvey for Police

Blue Voice raised a $6 million seed round led by SignalFire and Las Olas VC to build what founder David Lawrence pitches as Harvey for police officers: an AI copilot that gives cops real-time legal and policy guidance in the field. Lawrence is a Harvard Law dropout; his co-founders are Amit Patankar, a former Google engineer, and Michael Gropman, a retired Boston police deputy chief. TechCrunch broke it August 31.

The insight that made Lawrence quit law school: most policing errors aren't malice, they're officers not having instant access to their own department's rules at the moment of decision. Blue Voice trains on each department's specific protocols, local ordinances and guidelines, the stuff general-purpose models can't see because it isn't public. Officers at 225 agencies across 25 states already use it daily.

The pattern is now unmistakable: Harvey for lawyers, OpenEvidence for doctors, Blue Voice for police. Vertical agents win by owning the non-public corpus, and every profession with a thick rulebook and high error costs gets one. The interesting question is which rulebook profession is next; our money is on compliance-heavy trades like nursing and aviation maintenance.
