PwC Will Certify 30,000 People on Claude
Anthropic and PwC announced an expanded alliance on Wednesday with a number that makes most enterprise AI deals look small. PwC will train and certify 30,000 of its professionals on Claude, roll out Claude Code and Cowork to US teams first then go global to its hundreds-of-thousands-strong workforce, and stand up a joint Center of Excellence with Anthropic.
Three focus areas. Agentic technology build — PwC's developers ship customer software on Claude Code instead of their existing dev stack. AI-native deal-making — PwC's M&A and advisory teams use Claude inside the deal lifecycle. Reinvention of the enterprise function — Claude as the substrate for finance, HR, ops, and back office across PwC's own books and inside its clients.
The most interesting line in the announcement is the new business unit. PwC is launching an Office of the CFO finance business group built on Claude as the first standalone business unit anchored in Anthropic's technology. Translation — PwC is not just buying seats, it is building a product-shaped finance practice on top of Claude and selling it back to enterprise CFOs.
The early proof points are already there. Claude is running in production at PwC across professional sports operations, insurance underwriting, mainframe modernization, HR transformation, and cybersecurity, cutting delivery times by up to 70%. That is the second 70%-cut number Anthropic has shipped in a week — the same figure shows up in the Finance Agents launch from May 5. The cadence is now clear.
