The complaints were just as concrete: Opus 5 acting lazy or erratic mid-session, auto-compaction failing exactly when long-session continuity matters, a session cache that expires at sixty minutes and quietly multiplies cost, and agents that sit for twenty minutes on an unattended permission prompt while you are away from the keyboard. Trust took real hits too, with a backup written to the wrong path and then mass-deleting a user's files, an npm supply-chain worm injecting hooks into .claude/settings.json, and a disclosed harness CVE allowing prompt-injection-driven RCE and key exfiltration. Underneath all of it runs the same economic anxiety, usage limits and pricing pushing people toward OmniRoute-style gateways, DeepSeek and local Qwen, and CC-Switch-style tooling to hop providers without editing config files.
