Anthropic Drops Claude Design

Anthropic just stopped pretending Canva was its friend. April 17, Anthropic Labs launched Claude Design — describe the slide deck, the wireframe, the marketing one-pager, the prototype you want, and Claude builds it. You then refine through chat, inline comments, direct edits, or custom controls.

It imports your brand assets, exports to Canva/PDF/PPTX/HTML, and hands off to Claude Code when you're ready to ship the actual product. Powered by Opus 4.7. In research preview now for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise.

Anthropic told TechCrunch this complements Canva, not replaces it. That's the polite version. The honest version: founders, PMs, and operators who can't draw are now Anthropic's biggest growth wedge. Every Claude Pro user just got a designer.

The interesting move is the Claude Code handoff. They're closing the loop from idea to design to working software inside one subscription. That's not Canva's game. That's a vertical play against the entire prosumer creative stack.
